Advisors' Opinion:

Truth be told, it's not clear if SK3 Group Inc. (OTCMKTS:SKTO) is best described when compared to a name like Cerner Corporation (NASDAQ:CERN), or to a Gentiva Health Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:GTIV). The company's got elements of both major industries being represented by CERN and GTIV (home health care, and information technology), with the addition of another budding industry thrown into the mix. One thing IS clear though... SKTO shares have decidedly reversed a nasty downtrend, and may now be one of the market's best small cap healthcare speculative trades.

Rather than pull my money out at the wrong time, as so many people did, I invested in specific trend-bucking, low-beta stocks -- O'Reilly (NASDAQ: ORLY  ) , Advance Auto Parts (NYSE: AAP  ) , and AutoZone (NYSE: AZO  ) . I did so while following Lynch's advice to "invest in what you know." To allow me to tell my story, let me briefly explain what the beta number is and how it works. Then I'll tell you why I picked those stocks and explain how you can do it next time.

Now don’t get me wrong. Some stocks certainly look a bit frothy. The Container Store (TCS) went public on Friday and promptly doubled. And as Michael Santoli noted with tongue planted firmly in cheek on Wednesday, more than a few stocks could use a “talking down” from their founder CEOs the wayElon Musk did with Tesla (TSLA) last week. They included LinkedIn (LNKD), Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) and Starbucks (SBUX).

In the following video, Motley Fool contributor John Reeves discusses the recent results of Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX  ) in China. The company has been able to grow its business tremendously there, and John thinks this is a big part of the long-term investing thesis for Starbucks. On the recent conference call, CEO Howard Schultz noted that the company is on track for China to become its second largest market outside the U.S. by 2014. John is excited by this long-term trend.

Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX  ) CEO Howard Schultz said on Monday that thecompany's first stores in India and Vietnam have enjoyed a positive reception. Schultz also said the coffee chain mightlaunch a store inMyanmar. Starbucks opened its first Vietnam store in February and its first store in India last year. And Starbucks is serving upsome big numbers in China. Schultz said China will surpass Canada to be second-biggest market within the next couple of years.

The final problem Gap must overcome is if its Old Navy brand is the right one to enter China with. There is no guarantee that the Chinese consumer has American-like tastes. Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) discovered this because it was not prepared to satisfy the consumer preference in Chinafor tea over coffee. Whether Old Navy is like coffee is something Gap will find out soon enough.

Top 10 Retail Companies To Invest In Right Now: Arch Therapeutics Inc (ARTH)

Arch Therapeutics, Inc. (Arch), formerly Almah, Inc., incorporated on September 16, 2009, operates as a life science company developing polymers containing peptides intended to form gel-like barriers over wounds to stop or control bleeding. Arch is a medical device company offering an approach to the rapid cessation of bleeding (hemostasis) and control of fluid leakage (sealant) during surgery and trauma care. Arch products are in preclinical development. The first product, AC5, is designed for hemostasis in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) and open surgical procedures.

AC5

AC5 is a synthetic peptide consisting of naturally occurring amino acids. When squirted or sprayed onto a wound, AC5 intercalates into the nooks and crannies of the connective tissue where it builds itself into a physical, mechanical structure. That structure provides a barrier to leaking substances, including blood and other bodily fluids, regardless of type of surgery or, based on early data, clotting ability.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By James E. Brumley]

With each passing day, the opportunity Arch Therapeutics Inc. (OTCBB:ARTH) is presenting to investors gets a little bit clearer... as clear as AC5. What's AC5? It's a hemostasis agent. In other words, it stops post-surgical bleeding. It doesn't do the job quite like anything else out there, though, and that's a good thing for current and/or future ARTH shareholders.

Some individual stocks certainly did this week. Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) rose 19% to $509.74–a new all-time closing high–despite missing earnings forecasts. Strong same-store sales will do that. Baker Hughes (BHI), meanwhile, gained 11% to $55.55 after the oil-services company reported far stronger earnings than analysts had expected thanks to its business in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Advance Auto Parts (AAP) gained 20% after purchasing a competitor and making itself the largest auto-parts supplier by revenue.

However and given the current uncertain economy that is keeping most consumers in their old cars, you would think that auto parts retailers in general would all be doing well.
